In planning my six-year old daughter’s birthday party, I surely thought we’d be coloring the walls pink with Barbie decorations and bows. Boy, was I wrong! I’m not sure if you’ve heard of the Disney movie Descendants or not, but it has taken over at our home. The music-filled movie (well, movies, there are now 3 installments of Descendants movies), follows the teenage children of popular Disney characters, both heroes and villains, as they navigate high school. It’s the only thing my girl wants to watch during screen time. We’ve also gotten requests for Descendants bed sheets, school supplies and, of course, a Descendants themed birthday party.
Now, being the crafty mom I am, I wasn’t totally upset to find out that decorations were hard to come by. Our local party store was consistently sold out of things every time we stopped in. I took this as an opportunity to customize the party decorations and have fun with it. Thanks to Amazon, we were able to purchase a little Descendants décor that my daughter picked out too. Aside from a themed party, cake and music, and a (sticky) party craft (that ended up going awry), we wanted to add a special touch to her birthday. Since it was a Descendants theme, we thought it would be fun to have a character from the movie visit for Emma’s special day.
I had previously seen the character of Mal (Evil queen Maleficent’s daughter in the movie) at another event presented by Enchanted Wishes Quality Character Entertainment. I knew I needed to contact them for this Descendants birthday party. Emma was going to love have the Mal visit her party all the way from the fictional kingdom Auradon!
Throughout the planning process, Enchanted Wishes was prompt on communication and details. They made this surprise special visit extremely easy. On the day of the party, Mal would surprised Emma while everyone was having lunch. What a surprise it was!
Enchanted Wishes didn’t miss a beat with Mal! She was dressed as if she had just walked off the set of the movie and stayed true to her character the entire time. Mal treated the kids to an interactive story and believably answered all the burning questions this Kindergarten bunch had about her life in Auradon. She handed out stickers, took photos, then gave a very special birthday card and a small gift to our girl.
