10 Things to Do with Toddlers in Wake Forest

By Natasha Gentile-Leshchiner, Community Director at Macaroni Kid Wake Forest February 20, 2020

Keeping your toddler busy is a job in itself. I am always looking for fun things to do, new places to try or great classes (double points if it’s educational) that keep them occupied. Below is a list of ten places that are great options for busy bee toddlers:

1. Toddler Time @ MVP Sports Factory: Let them run! And an opportunity for them to improve their gross motor skills. Every Monday – Thursday from 12 pm to 2 pm ($5 per child).

2.  Open Gym @ The Tumble Gym: They can tumble and roll every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

3. Family Swim @ Goldfish Swim School: Enjoy some pool time with your little's and a change of scenery and sensory! Family Swim time is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday’s from 12 pm to 2 pm with a $15 per family max cost!

4. Joyner Park Playground: We love this new addition to Joyner Park! My favorite thing about the playground is that it separates by age, so your toddlers can play within their age group. There’s plenty of places for us Mama’s to sit too!

5.  Page 158 Books Story Time: Every Wednesday @ Noon and every Saturday @ 10 am you can join the sweetest story time around. We love the ambiance of Page 158 Books and they are always so great with kids!

6.  Toddler Story Times @ Local Libraries: These events are always great to have in your back pocket. Both Northeast Regional Library and Wake Forest Community Library have Toddler Story Times a few times a week. So, if you are ever in need of a place to just drop in- these are it!

7.  Soft Play @ Galaxy Fun Park: For $5 per child (and as long as they are under 54 inches height wise) they can enjoy the indoor play area known as the Mission Control Station!

8.  Preschool Open Gym @ Joyner Park Community Center: Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 am to 11:45 am the kids can enjoy open gym time with others their age!

9.  Sensory Gym @ Flaherty Park Center: Every Monday from 10:45 am to 11:45 am your toddlers can enjoy fun and therapeutic toys and make some new friends!

10.  Nature Programs @ Blue Jay Point County Park: Every month the park holds two different educational classes, the ‘Nature Peekers’ for ages 18 months to 3 years old and the ‘Nature Stories’ for ages 3 to 5 years old. These programs are free, but you must register for them ahead of time. They are educational and a lot of fun for the little nature lover!
