Stars & Strikes had barely opened its Raleigh location when Covid-19 shut everything down. Now that things are starting to open back up, we've been able to check out this new bowling alley a couple of times. Actually, let me rephrase that because Stars & Strikes is SO much more than a bowling alley. It is an epicenter of entertainment and excitement. Seriously, this place has everything: bowling (both classic lanes and VIP cosmic lanes), laser tag, bumper cars, an expansive arcade full of all the hottest games, and a full bar for the grown-ups.
The Arcade
I really love the variety of games available in the arcade, with everything from carnival style games, to classic arcade games, and many unique games that I’ve never seen before. All game credits and tickets won are tracked on the same game card that gets scanned before each game.
The Bowling Alley
The “classic” lanes are toward the back of the building, with lanes separated by curtains to maintain social distancing. The unique thing about Stars & Strikes is that you can choose different bowling games to play that turn your game into a virtual game on the TV screen overhead. Of course, there is the option to play good ol’ fashioned bowling as well.
VIP Lanes
The VIP lanes are on the opposite side of the classic lanes, in their own private area. These lanes are complete with music, glow lights, projection TV screens, and luxury booths.
Laser Tag
I haven’t played laser tag since I was about 14 years old. It was THE hot thing to do during my teenage years. This took me right back to being a kid again. The two-story arena holds various barricades and ramps for prime laser combat. We had a blast, and I think I burned off the pizza we had for dinner in the process, win-win.
Bumper Cars
The bumper cars are just pure fun. Who wouldn’t love taking out your loved ones in an oversized tire car? We laughed the whole time and I think the kids were just thrilled at the chance to “drive” something all by themselves.
Stars & Strikes is the perfect spot for a family fun day, date night, team outing or birthday party. They even offer several deals and special discounts throughout the week. The Virtual P.E. deal they are currently running is worth mentioning, it is the perfect way to break up these long days at home, with $2 bowling, $2 shoes, $2 pizza and $2 for $5 arcade credits. Overall, Stars & Strikes has set the bar for family entertainment in Raleigh. They’re in a location on Capital Blvd that needs to see more businesses thriving. I really hope they’ll be around for a long time, and continue to maintain the level cleanliness, service and quality attractions we have enjoyed since their reopening!
