Green Chair Project...Furnishing homes. Changing lives.

By Macaroni kid wake forest publisher Tracee Grimstead, thegreenchair.org March 20, 2022

The Green Chair Project is a nonprofit organization that reuses donated furnishings for people facing the challenges of homelessness, crisis or disaster.

The Green Chair Project has partnered with other nonprofit agencies to provide essential furnishings and services to families and individuals disconnected due to the pandemic.

Lives change when families and individuals are nurtured and sustained in well-equipped homes.

Green Chair Project Executive Director and Co-Founder Jackie Craig with Co-Founder Beth Smoot

Jackie Craig and Beth Smoot found that friends and neighbors had too much stuff in their homes—stuff that no one wanted to waste, but was no longer needed. Jackie and Beth realized thousands of families attempting to move out of homelessness could not afford furniture and basic household items without assistance. With this in mind, the pair founded The Green Chair Project in 2010 to collect and reuse essential furnishings to benefit their Wake County neighbors in need.
